Officials have not released the cause of death of a man found dead in Bath County on Friday. Deputies initially responded to a call about an abandoned Toyota pick up truck on Route 39, about a mile from the Blowing Springs Camp Ground. An investigation revealed it was a wanted vehicle in connection with an earlier call in Rockbridge County. Blood hounds were then called in, and the body of Shawn Staton (STAY-ton), of Vesuvius was found a short distance away. His body was taken to Roanoke for examination.
