The first soldier to be court martialled over abuse of Iraqi prisoners was sentenced today.

Specialist Jeremy Sivits broke into tears twice as he plead guilty to the abuse.
He was then asked to describe what happened at Abu Ghraib prison.
Sivits said on the night of November 8th, 2003 he saw detainees, with their heads in sandbags, lying naked on the floor.
He saw soldiers step on their hands and feet and watched as one detainee was knocked unconcious by a blow to the head.
Sivits apologized to the Iraqi people, his fellow soldiers and to his family.
He was sentenced to the maximum one year confinement, a pay reduction and a bad conduct discharge.
Three other soldiers were also arraigned on similar abuse charges.

Many of the students are worried about the teachers involved.

In 2004, the pitching duo of Will Inman and Jacob Thompson have a combined ERA of just over 1.0. Inman broke the single season strike out record of 105 K's this season and broke the Tunstall career strike out record of 216 last year as a sophomore. A record set by Trojan legend Bubba Scarce, who starred at N.C. State.

A picture book about the Roanoke Valley is being redone.

The Chamber of Commerce is working with a company out of Atlanta to put together a book of Roanoke Valley images.
The book will take a look at quality of life and business issues. It'll be used as an economic development tool and local stores will also sell it.
Publishing is set for November.
