According to national standards, a PSA count of four or below is considered normal. But Doctor Dennis Garvin says the problem is there are some cancers that don't' raise the PSA level -- and what's considered normal for one person may not be for another.

Doctors Garvin says several factors should be considered. A man's risk for prostate cancer increases with age. African Americans have a higher incidence of the disease. Family history plays a role. And the patients established baseline can help determine what's a normal for that patient.
