At least one person was killed in a boating accident on Smith Mountain Lake in Bedford County.
It happened just before 5 last night when police say a boat and sea-doo collided between lake markers R-57 and R-58.
There's no word on other possible injuries at this time.

Four people are in jail this morning - charged with operating a drug ring in Wythe County.

Police say 22 year old Quadir Naiym Smithson of Wytheville, 27 year old Tyree Lamont Hicks of Detroit Michigan, 54 year old Stanley Mathew Black and 31 year old Leon William Carr, both also from Wytheville, were arrested in connection with a crack cocaine distribution ring from Detroit.

Officals say they used warrants last night to search two homes in Wytheville where they found crack cocaine, marijuana, and ecstasy. Police say more charges will be filed against the men.

A Franklin County man has been found guilty of voluntary manslaughter in the death his brother in law

Joseph Edison Bridges was also found guilty of shooting into an occupied vehicle.

The shooting happened last May. Police say Bridges pulled up to his brother- in- law's car and fired a shot hitting Howell Scott in the head. Scott died at the scene.

Bridges later turned himself in and claims he had a mental condition at the time of the shooting. A sentencing date has not yet been set.

Gunmen in Saudi Arabia have now released several hostages taken captive after an attack today that left at least five people dead.
Three foreigners are believed to be among those killed in the earlier attack at a housing compound for the oil companies in the eastern city of Khobar.

That's what the president of the organization is wondering as he struggles to raise money to keep the non-profit open.
The Center offers rent-free space to other non-profits like the Science Museum of Western Virginia, the Art Museum, History Museum and Mill Mountain Theatre. Like many other arts and cultural organizations, it's been operating without state funding since 2000. A lack of new donors has president Jim Sears questioning the role residents see the Center playing in their lives.

The event was washed out by rain last year, so organizers were forced to make some changes in order to keep things festive.

An accident killed one person in Pittsylvania County last night. Police say a Ford Escort, driven by 17 year old Steven Deel Matthew of Keeling, drove into a series of S-curves on Route 841 too fast. The car ran off the right side of the road, down a three foot bank, and rolled several times. Matthew was thrown from the car and killed. Three other passengers were taken to Danville Regional medical center with non life threatening injuries.

A Henry County man is behind bars after allegedly shooting two people in Martinsville. Police responded to a call of multiple shots fired on 110 Echols Street around 3:30 Friday morning.

Fink's Jewelers opened its newest store and company headquarters in Roanoke County today. The Fink family has lived in Roanoke for more than 70 years and believed the valley would be the perfect place for the new addition. After the ribbon was cut , the crowd headed inside for a tour of the facility and of course to gawk at the goods. The new site will house 50 employees, a 27-thousand pound vault and extravagant jewerly.
