Wythe County investigators say they found the body of 42-year-old Vaughne Roxanne Thomas of Max Meadows overnight.

It was buried under a pile of logs behind her home on Rome Road, the victim of an apparent stabbing.
The sheriff's department says the victim's husband returned from a weekend trip last night to find the family home ransacked, and his wife and her daughter missing.

He called for help, and investigators say when they tracked down the daughter, they learned the location of the body. The victim's 14-year-old daughter and a 15-year-old female are held without bond at the New River Juvenile Detention Center.

The threat of rain moved the Roanoke ceremony indoors, and cancelled Bedford County's 250th anniversary parade.


But the skies cleared this afternoon for a simple ceremony at the D-Day Memorial in Bedford.

A group of veterans placed a wreath honoring more than one point four million lives that have been given in service to the country... and the lives of many others who remain missing in action.
Utah resident Don Snow, was a World War II artilleryman who hit the beach at Normandy on D-Day plus one. He was thinking of men and women whose lives are on the line today.

A Buena Vista man is accused of trying to put a price on the Passion of the Christ.

Police say Dustin Benson stole a copy of the blockbuster film from Valley Cinemas in Buena Vista and tried to sell it on E-Bay.
An official with the Motion Picture Association of America saw the e-bay listing and was able to obtain the sellers name and location by acting as an interested buyer.
When police confronted Benson, they say he admitted to the scheme and showed them where the film was.
Benson's now charged with breaking and entering, computer fraud and grand larceny.

That's according to a new report by a coalition of driving safety groups.

Roanoke's newest tourist attraction has hit a milestone.

The O. Winston Link Museum has now had 10-thousand visitors.
The renovated train station honoring the famed railroad photographer opened last January.
Museum officials say they've been pleased with attendance in the first five months, and they expect it'll be even better during the summer travel season.
Sales at the museum gift shop have topped 50-thousand dollars so far.

The NCAA men's lacrosse national championship game matched fourth ranked Syracuse against second rated Navy. Navy was trying to become the first service academy to win a college national championship since 1964 and with the war going on overseas and many of their comrades there, this one was special.

The first half would be a back and forth game as each team traded goals. The high powered Orangemen would try and win against the stingy Mindshimen defense which gave up around seven goals a game, best in the country.
The game came down to a late fourth quarter rally by Syracuse. Navy goalie Matt Russell dislocated his shoulder [SU
PER=34-Syracuse/14/Navy/13;]and had to leave the game.


But NAVY hung tough until Syracuse all american Mike Powell put the game away on this shot with one minute to play. 14-12 Syracuse and the Orangemen hold on for the 14-13 win to capture their ninth national title.

Lord Botetourt high school has hired a new head boys basketball coach. Jon Cook takes over for the Cavaliers.
Cook has been an assistant at Lord Botetourt for the last seven seasons under Ed Purdy and Mark Wane, who resigned at the end of this past season. Cook played high school ball under Billy Pope at Northside.
