The hardest-hit area appears to be around Pulaski County, where more than a thousand customers lost service when the line of morning storms rumbled through. Two teenage girls are charged with a murder in Wythe County. One of the suspects is the victim's daughter.

[Take Wythe Murder Map FS] The County Sheriff's office says the body of 42-year-old Vaughne Roxanne Thomas of Max Meadows was found buried behind her home on Rome Road, the victim of an apparent stabbing.

Investigators say they the victim's husband returned home from a weekend trip to find his wife and step-daughter missing. They say after locating the step-daughter, they learned the location of Thomas' body. Thomas's 14-year-old daughter and a 15-year-old female are held without bond at the New River Juvenile Detention center in Christiansburg.

((With more than 800-soldiers killed in Iraq, President Bush's annual visit to the tomb of the unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery is especially somber on this Memorial Day. After laying a wreath at the tomb, he told veterans and families that their fight for freedom was always for a noble cause.

In Washington, Democratic Presidential Candidate and Vietnam Veteran, John Kerry, paid respects at the wall and met with fellow veterans. Tens of thousands of former soldiers and sailors have been in D.C. this weekend and for the first time in years, the city commemorated the holiday with a parade.

Parades and observations are taking place across the country. In Los Angeles, the Santa Monica beach has become a makeshift memorial to the soldiers killed in Iraq. Veterans lit 800-crosses in the sand and say they will keep the memorial there until the war ends.))

State officials are hoping for a safe day on area waterways, and if weather permits, they'll even go to the sky for enforcement efforts this afternoon. Two people have died on area lakes this weekend, one on Smith Mountain Lake, the other on Lake Moomaw in Bath County.

The clashes in Kufa began late yesterday, further chipping away at a deal to halt fighting between coalition forces and loyalists of radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr (Mook-ta-dah "Al" Sodder). Attackers ambushed a patrol with small arms fire, killing one U-S soldier. They fired a rocket-propelled grenade on a tank, killing another. An Iraqi also died and eight others were wounded.

At least two people are dead and 20-injured after a car bomb exploded today near the headquarters of the U-S-run occupation authority in Baghdad. Firefighters arrived on the scene to find the shelled out car and damage to local shops. The explosion happened near the palace housing the U.S. military and administration as the Governing Council delayed the announcement of a new government. A witness says it may have been a suicide bomber because he saw a Mercedes driving and then swerve around before blowing up.

The race would not go well for rookie Johnny Sau-ter who hits the wall and is knocked out of the race for his first D-N-F of the season.

Ryan Newman brings out the fifth caution when Derrike Cope gets into the AllTell Number 12 car on lap 3-67.
With 32 laps to go the drivers pit with Jimmie Johnson in the lead, but Jamie McMurray stays out and has the lead.

Then the move of the entire night. Johnson squeezes between the 31 and 9 car to move into second.
He retakes the lead with 16 laps to go, but Newman brings out the caution flag with 7 to go!.
We have a three lap shootout and Johnson blows away the field. He becomes the first driver this season to win the pole and race and he wins outright compared to last year's win.

15-month-old Luka Mel-ik-sish-vili is carrying the weight of a six-year-old. Little Luka weighs 55-pounds. His parents say he has been gaining weight since his birthday. Doctors told them not to be too concerned, saying Luka will grow into his excess weight. But for now, the baby is gaining 4-and-a-half pounds every month!
