Authorities in Lynchburg have arrested a faculty member at Lynchburg's Heritage High School.
44 year old Norman Edward Riggs was charged with two counts of aggravated sexual battery on a juvenile.
In a press release, Lynchburg police said the alleged offense happened from late 2003 until early this year.
Police say there is no indication the offenses occurred on school property.
Riggs is still under contract with the school system, but is "not" currently working at Heritage High School.

The judge also ruled Holcomb's attorney must be present for a polygraph test, but the results of those tests cannot be used in a sentencing report. The jury that convicted Holcomb on two counts of aggravated sexual batter and taking indecent liberties with a minor recommended a 10 and a half year sentence. Holcomb won't be formally sentenced until sometime later this summer.

This thief actually backed his pickup truck into the front of the store- got out and took several weapons out of the display case.
The man then gets back into the truck and takes off.
The whole thing was caught on surveillance tape.
Officials released the video from the Virginia Arms Company hoping someone may recognize the suspect.
They also hope a second tape from the back of the store can help them read the license plate.

A new study finds that fewer children in the state are lighting up.

And among middle school students, researchers found a 45 percent decrease.

Beverly Wolf contacted a tree cutting service to remove a dead oak.
The company used a crane to lift the tree over the house.
But something went wrong and the arm of the arm came crashing down through the upstairs bedroom and into the ground floor dining room. The huge arm missed Wolf by just ten feet.
As clean a cut through the house as it is, experts say repairing the house will be impossible and will have to be torn down and rebuilt.

Quarterback Marques Hagans, the projected starter this coming season, Brandon Lee and defensive back Kenneth Tynes have been acquitted of misdemeanor charges stemming from an April 28th campus shooting. Each was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after former Virginia defensive back Jamaine Winborne was shot in the leg. Hagans and Lee refused to leave the crime scene and were arrested. An Albemarle County General District judge acquitted the two on Tuesday. Tynes was charged with vandalism for allegedly throwing a chair through a dorm window near the shooting scene, was acquitted of that misdemeanor on May 21. Now a grand jury will decide this coming Monday whether to indict Virginia student Aaron Joshua Robinson in the shooting of Winborne.
