The Northwest Neighborhood Environmental Organization has been active for more than 20 years, and the group has had a major impact on the community.

Keith and Shannon, a review won't be complete for another 30 days or so, but it appears the organization failed to pay taxes and other debts, that total more than 100- thousand dollars.
Authorities will consider the evidence to determine if anyone should face criminal charges, but officials are hopeful the organization will recover.

Alvin Nash was asked to investigate, and the Executive Director of the Blue Ridge Housing Development Corporation has more work to do, but with the problems identified and better controls on the way, he says NNEO should be able to continue its work.
The organization has been responsible for renovations, new construction, and larger projects such as McCray Court Senior Living Center.
City Council members say they have confidence Alvin Nash will get to the bottom of the group's problems.

The investigation has focused on the actions of a former office manager, and Nash says at this point it's difficult to say if the problems were simply mismanagement, or constitute a more serious offense.
An attorney representing the former executive director says his client and the group's board were deceived by her.

Police are apaprently conducting an investigation, and Nash says the results of his review will be turned over to the Commonwealth's Attorney.

Three children were shaken up as their bus ran off the road in Campbell County this afternoon.

Around 12:30, a bus carrying mostly middle and high school students was headed west on Depot Road.
That's when the driver apparently lost control and skidded into a ditch.
Three children suffered minor injuries in the crash.
The driver.. 35-year-old Saundra Griffiths.. was charged with reckless driving.
State police say she was going too fast for the wet conditions.

For the third year in a row, Pulaski County is celebrating a state reading championship.

Newbern Elementary school won this year's Reading is Fundamental Challenge. It's a national competition in which more than 120-thousand students try to read as many books as they can in two weeks.
