A single vehicle accident on Interstate 77 injured two people.

[TAKE MAP FULL] The accident occurred yesterday evening at exit 31 as I-77 merges with I-81. Police say the driver lost control and flipped the car several times. The driver was taken to Wythe Memorial Hospital and a passenger was flown to Bristol.

There were fewer deadly accidents on the state roadways over the Memorial Day weekend.
State police say ten people died this year. That's down from 13 the year before.
But of the nine victims required to wear safety belts, only two were buckled up at the time of the crash.
Troopers also wrote more than 75-hundred speeding tickets.

The reward for information of what happened to a Danville woman who was gunned three months ago outside a liquor store continues to grow.
34-year-old Annie Delores Howerton was shot several times as she left her work place on Union Street.
Friends, family and concerned citizens have contributed about 7- thousand dollars in reward money in hopes of finding the person or persons responsible.
That's in addition to the 1-thousand dollars Crimestoppers is offering.

Tony Conner was outside the Christiansburg Walmart with his dog Dan last Saturday when a man walked up to him and grabbed his donation bucket. Conner is in a wheelchair and was raising money for a local disabled American Vets chapter.

Police have arrested 26 year old Joshua Via and his wife, 19 year old Krishna Via after a citizen on the scene got a license plate number. They're charged with robbery and hit and run. The Via's are being held at the Montgomery County Jail.

A veteran lawmaker from Wytheville has died.
Archie Campbell passed away Tuesday at the age of 82.

A Democrat, Campbell served nine terms in the House of Delegates, and became chairman of the House Finance Committee.
He was an advocate for southwest Virginia, and was instrumental in establishing Wytheville Community College.

Viar says he was mowing his lawn one day in April when rain forced him to stop. That's when he went down to "Miles Market" on Campbell Highway and bought the winning ticket. Taking the tour of the government's secret cold-war bunker at the Greenbrier Resort will come to an end soon.

After July 28th, the resort will suspend all tours of the facility while renovations begin. The resort will be updating water and ventilation and air conditioning ducts, and tying the bunker's massive generators into the hotel's backup power system. The construction is expected to take a year to 18 months, and tours WILL resume after the work is done.

Police are investigating a stabbing that happened in Northwest Roanoke Wednesday night.
Authorities say a man approached 20- year- old Christopher A. Cotton from behind, as he walked along the 800- block of Hunt Avenue.
They say the man stabbed Cotton just above his knee, but the injury was NOT life- threatening.
Police say there was no apparent motive for the stabbing, and Cotton does NOT know the suspect.

A Franklin County veterinarian has agreed with the fine and punishment he received from the state veterinary board.

Four months ago a committee concluded Flint "practiced veterinary medicine so as to endanger the health and welfare of his patients." The Committee proposed a fine of 10-thousand dollars and a four-month suspension of Flint's license. He had two weeks to decide whether to appeal. He chose not to fight it, and last week the Board accepted that decision.

The case stemmed from the death of a dog at Noah's Ark Animal Complex while Dr. Flint was pre-occupied with a photo shoot of the clinic. That case was one of nine instances where Flint was found to have violated state laws and regulations.
