Thousands lined the streets this afternoon as the former president's body was carried to his presidential library in California.
There was a private ceremony for friends and family. Then the public was allowed to file past and pay its respects, a process which will continue until tomorrow night.
That's when Reagan's body will be flown to Washington and lie in state at the Capitol. On Friday, the nation will hold its first full state funeral since Lyndon Johnson's death in 1973.

Wythe County investigators searched the high school lockers of two ninth graders accused of murder.

14 year old Nakisha Waddell is charged with first- degree murder in the stabbing death of her mother, 42 year old Vaughne Thomas.

15 year old Anastasia Belcher also faces a first-degree murder charge for the crime.
Thomas was found buried in the backyard of her home in Max Meadows.
According to a search warrant return, investigators took two pieces of notebook paper with some writing on them and two type-written pages of song lyrics from Anastasia Belcher's locker at Fort Chiswell High School.
The warrant indicates police were searching for evidence that the teenagers planned the murder.

A judge says an April school bus accident in Montgomery County was NOT the bus driver's fault.

61 year old Bradford Charles Grems of Blacksburg was found NOT guilty this morning of reckless driving.
Grems was behind the wheel of a school bus on Camp Carrysbrook Road when the road gave way and his bus overturned.
The judge says there was NOT enough evidence to convict Grems and that the road caused the accident, NOT the driver.
Grems told News 7 he feel vindicated by the ruling.
The bus was carrying two teachers and nine high school students.
No one was injured.

And this year, a prominent Richmond attorney was charged with murdering HIS neighbor Oliver Brooks. The 16-year feud apparently began when the attorney used a 100-year-old law to force his neighbors to pay for a fence HE built around his estate.

A State Police trooper has been hurt in a wreck in Henry County.
The accident happened within the last hour on Route 57 east of Martinsville.
A spokesman says the trooper's car overturned and at one point caught fire.

The hard throwing lefty was selected with the 34th overall pick - a supplemental first round selection - of the Chicago White Sox.

The MBNA America 200 did get started Saturday but was postponed after just 28 of 200 laps - and a delay of 5 hours, 10 minutes.
Today the only delays were due to the caution flags that waved eight times for 54 laps.
Martin Truex led the most laps today, but Greg Biffle got the hold the trophy as took over the top spot with 21 miles to race and held on to win the race and give Roush Racing a sweep of the weekend's two top events.
The win is Biffle's 14th in the Busch series.
