Maintenance crews cracked open the machine yesterday, which had been at the Grandin Court Elementary School during the May election. Election officials and Alice Hincker, who failed to get one-vote at that precinct, were on-hand. Eventually workers discovered a wheel which recorded votes was stuck. The registrar says this is the first time something like this has happened. She says the city will no longer use the lever-voting machines. For the next election, new electronic touchscreens will be used.
