The school boards have until August to vote to agree *in principle* to a merger. They will then have another four years to work out the details and make the transition. ((Ashton Downs 7-6, 6-2 state title win over Gate City's Tara Sheets in the individual portion of the VHSL tournament put the finishing touches on a perfect 22 and OH season in which she did not lose a set all year. ((:))
Downs has a strong family force behind her, mom the fan, dad the hitting partner and sister Carolyn, a Radford University sophomore who with her younger sibling have combined for four straight singles titles for the Bobcats. Phil Mickelson is at 69.
