One person has talked to Lynchburg police about what happened inside the home where a man was beaten to death Wednesday morning.

Authorities say 22-year old Talea DeShae Anderson came in last night. But they still want to talk to 23-year old Mario Antwane Scott and 22-year old Carlton Hunter.

Police say they were attending a party at the home on Pierce Street where 39-year old Daniel Keith Jackson was found with injuries to his head and upper body. He later died at Lynchburg General.

Last night, the authority held a public hearing on its proposed budget and initial rate structure.
Although water bills will remain the same until December, city residents will eventually pay more for water while county residents will pay less.

The school boards have until August to vote to agree *in principle* to a merger. They will then have another four years to work out the details and make the transition. The committee based its findings on a plan that would close three schools and eliminate seven administrative positions. In January, Henry County approved a plan to close *five* schools and consolidate several others.

A Danville company is blaming a change economic conditions in the tobacco industry for its production shut down.

Dimon says it expects to end production at its Danville facility next March. The company does not indicate how many workers will lose their jobs as a result. The move is part of a larger corporate restructuring plan in response to changing economic conditions on the five continents in which Dimon does business. Another person has been arrested in the murder of a Wythe County woman.

The victim, 42-year old Vaughne Thomas was stabbed to death in her Max Meadows home.

Thomas's body was found nearly two weeks ago, buried in her backyard. Her 14-year old daughter Nakisha Waddell and friend, 15 year old Anastasia Belcher are charged in the murder.

Now police have charged 21 year old Andrew Long of Wythe County Investigators do NOT believe Long took part in the actual murder. He's charged as an accessory after the fact, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
