A man accused in a brutal assault in Blacksburg will be arraigned this morning. The victim was possibly raped and beaten so badly in the face she may have to undergo reconstuctive surgery.

The 23-year old woman, who police are not identifying was grabbed from behind by a stranger in downtown Blacksburg as she walked home. She was snatched in this alley behind main street where she was brutally beaten in the face and possibly raped. The victim was beaten unconscious so police are waiting on some lab results to determine if she was raped. Police got a tip late Wednesday evening which led them to their suspect almost exactly 24 hours after the attack.
