More details tonight about the accident that killed a mother and daughter in Shawsville last night.

The accident happened shortly after 5 o'clock. State Police say 21-year-old Christopher M. Hight of Christiansburg was driving west on Route 460, when he ran off the right shoulder of the road. The car struck six-year-old Betty Marie Sirry (Surry) and her mother, 44- year- old Joyce Marie Sirry, as they were walking on the shoulder. Betty was pronounced dead at the scene. Joyce later died at the New River Valley Medical Center. Hight has been charged with driving under the influence of drugs. State Police say additional charges may be filed Monday after the case is reviewed by the Commonwealth's Attorney.

One person was seriously injured in an accident in Franklin County last night. The wreck happened around 9-thirty near Westlake Corner. Police say 35 year old Stacy Alan Walls of Hardy was driving his motorcycle at a high rate of speed on Route 122 when a Ford Explorer pulled out into his path. Walls struck the right front fender of the S-U-V. He was airlifted to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he is listed in serious condition. State Police say charges are pending following further investigation.

The body of a West Virginia Marine killed in Afghanistan has been returned to U-S soil. The Defense Department says *Lance Corporal Juston Thacker of Princeton* was killed in an ambush Thursday near the Pakistan border. A Marine from Tennessee also died in the attack. They were shot as troops were returning to camp on foot from border patrol. *Marine Corps officers* accompanied Thacker's body to the United States yesterday. His burial has not yet been scheduled. Thacker was a 2001 graduate of Princeton High School.

If you travel through Vinton, you may want to find a new route as of tomorrow morning. The town has announced -- weather permitting -- it will be performing some road work starting at 8:30. A lane will be closed as crews work on sewer and water lines near the new Cardinal Park Drive intersection less than a tenth of a mile near Temple Drive and Hardy Road. Officials say drivers should use caution and expect delays. Work is expected to be completed Tuesday evening.

The Longhorns grabbed an early lead in the first, thanks to this double off the bat of Hunter Harris. That was good for 2 RBI's and a 2-nothing Texas lead.
But Fullerton put up a 3 spot in the 7th. Kurt Suzuki who didn't have an RBI in Omaha until today, drove in the game winner with that single to left field.
Jason Windsor threw a complete game and got the fly out to end it. Cal State Fullerton is the national champ beating Texas 3-2 to claim the series 2 games to none.
