Last week the congregation of High Street Baptist church voted out its minister of four years.
Now the Reverend Floyd Davis is focusing his energies on a new ministry.

More information has been released about the mother and daughter killed in a traffic accident over the weekend.

State Police say six-year-old Betty Marie Sirry (Surry) and her mother, 44- year- old Joyce Marie Sirry were killed after being hit by a car as they walked down Route 460 in Shawsville. State Police have charged the driver, 21-year-old Christopher M. Hight of Christiansburg with driving under the influence of drugs. Additional charges are pending a review by the Commonwealth's Attorney.

If your traveling through Vinton today, you may want to find a new route. The town has announced -- weather permitting -- it will be performing some road work starting at 8:30 this morning.

[TAKE "ROAD WORK" MAP FS] A lane will be closed as crews work on sewer and water lines near the new Cardinal Park Drive intersection less than a tenth of a mile near Temple Drive and Hardy Road. Officials say drivers should use caution and expect delays.
