18 children are under treatment for carbon monoxide poisoning tonight after attending a carnival near Smith Mountain Lake.
Franklin County public safety officials say the children were indoors at Hales Ford Baptist Church when a generator powering the carnival pumped carbon monoxide into the church.
A Carilion spokesman says eleven are under treatment in Rocky Mount and 7 others in Roanoke.

A Bassett man is charged using a landscape timber to kill a neighbor.
The Henry County Sheriff's office says 24 year old *Jerry Darnel Turner* faces a second degree murder charge.
He allegedly struck 53 year old Wesley Wendell Hairston with the timber during an argument last night. Both lived along the same road in Bassett.

A lightning strike is believed responsible for starting a fire today at Smith Mountain Lake.
Officials say lightning hit the roof of the 4-H center's nature facility around 3:30.
The blaze was contained to the roof and caused about 10-thousand dollars in damage.
Officials say no one was hurt.

The intense hail and flooding rains rocked Colorado Springs.

Authorities say they recieved 40 calls from drivers who needed to be rescued from the 2 to 3-feet deep flood waters.

Auto Track Transport of Dublin announced it was closing down this year, after losing its contract to non-union Swift Transportation.

Officials say the boy ran when they arrived, but was caught immediately.

Virginia has officially lifted its ban on fresh-cut Christmas trees in churches and apartments. The Virginia Board of Housing and Community Development overturned the fire regulations that banned the trees.
Earlier this year, legislators ordered the state agency to take action, after the ban confused many Virginians.
The fire rules had gone into effect in October, but again, the ban on fresh-cut trees in apartments and churches is history.

All four teams in the Commonwealth Baseball Games this weekend went 1 and 1 in today's action. The local team from the Western part of the state will play the North at 8-30 am tomorrow with a trip to the gold medal game on the line.
The 64 players participating in the event hope to use the games as a springboard to bigger and better things, like a college scholarship or a pro contract. Intern reporter Pete Woody has more.

Country music singer Glen Campbell, gave his own version of jail house rock to about a thousand inmates last night at a Phoenix, Arizona jail.
Earlier this year, Campbell was busted for drunk driving, and was sentenced to 10-days in jail.
Campbell says the show felt just like any other.
