Tests show a half dozen residential wells along Bell Town Road have already been contaminated.
The city has installed a filtration system but that has done little to ease the fears in the neighborhood.

A paramedic in the New River Valley faces charges of prescription fraud.
Pearisburg police say 31 year old Robert Patrick Urquhart (Urk-heart) of Peterstown West Virginia was arrested tonight.
Officers say he'd been stealing valium (VAL-ium) and morphine for the last six months.
Police say Urquhart served on the Giles Rescue Squad and Carilion Ambulance Service.

Terry Holland is leaving the University of Virginia after 25 years at the school.

Holland, who first arrived at UVa as head men's basketball coach on April first of 1974, and later returned to the University as athletic director, is stepping down from his current position as special assistant to the President. The Virginia Gentleman remains the winningest coach in men's hoop history, and as athletic director he oversaw the expansion of Scott Stadium. He has most recently been a fundraiser. No word on why he's leaving at this time.

Chip Sullivan has the first round lead at the Suntrust State Open that began today at the Willow Oaks Country Club in Richmond. The Ashley Plantation pro is tied for the lead with two other golfers from Northern Virginia after shooting a 67.

Dozens of residents wielding shovels, pickaxes and wheelbarrows took to the streets of one of Lynchburg's historic districts today.

Their mission was to remove some of the blacktop on Cabell (CAB-uhl) Street in Daniel's Hill and restore it to the brick paving stones underneath.
City crews helped dig up the first few inches of pavement while volunteers did the rest.
It's all part of an effort to restore the neighborhood's historic feel.
Grant money also will help pay for new streetlights, benches and landscaping. (------------)
