Shannon, the ECHL gave the Express until one PM today to have a legitimate offer on the table from a prospective owner to buy the team, and that did not happen. The league then decided to pull the Roanoke Express's ECHL membership, and that means that the Express will not play again. Express head coach Tony MacAulay spoke to News 7 sports late this afternoon.

Dela Cruz is heading home, where he'll receive a hero's welcome and gifts, including a house and scholarships for his children.

Former Roanoke Express forward Jeff Cowan has inked a new deal with the NHL Los Angeles Kings.

Cowan has signed a multi year contract withe the Kings. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Cowan was traded to Los Angeles from the Atlanta Thrashers last march. In five years in the NHL, Jeff has 32 goals and 27 assists and 387 penalty minutes. Cowan played under Frank Anzalone wit the Roanoke Express during the 1996-97 ECHL season.

That semi will be escorted by the bikers to the Roanoke Rescue Mission. The Roanoke Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau estimates the group will contribute 1-point-6 million dollars to the Roanoke Valley during its visit here.
