Passenger rail service in Roanoke could be years down the road, but the effort to restore the service between Bristol and Washington DC appears to be on track.
Until recently, Norfolk Southern Corporation has discouraged talk of passenger rail because of potential conflicts with the railroad's freight traffic.
But, as Joe Dashiell reports, N-S officials now say they view the Trans Dominion Express as a business opportunity.

(("The Bourne Supremacy" (Universal Pictures) Review by: Joel Sink

Matt Damon + Franka Potente + a good script + real, honest to goodness, location shoots = one fine movie. "The Bourne

Supremacy" is the sequel to 2002's "The Bourne Identity" both adapted from Robert Ludlum novels. "The Bourne Identity" was an excellent movie so I went into "The Bourne Supremacy" with high expectations. I wasn't disappointed.
"The Bourne Supremacy" begins a couple of years after "The Bourne Identity" ends. Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) and Marie (Franka Potente) are living in India and become aware that someone is watching them. Jason, still unable to remember his past, discovers that he has been framed for a murder in Berlin. Jason is off to Europe to confront the people behind the CIA project called Treadstone, who were nipping at his heels during the first film. Some of the actors from the first film join us here, Ward Abbott (Brian Cox) a high ranking CIA official and Nicky (Julia Stiles) a former agent back to help "The Agency" capture Bourne.
Joan Allen (one of my favorite actresses) plays Pamela Landy the CIA Director who was overseeing the operation in Berlin where the "framing" occurs. Karl Urban (of "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy) plays Kirill, a Russian operative who is also in pursuit of Bourne. There are very few other details I can tell you without giving away important plot elements.
This movie absolutely rocks! The script is intelligent and tight. Excellent actors give good, solid performances. There is action, tension and awesome car chases. You don't have to see the first movie to get this one, but it will help you have a better insight into the complex characters here. Location shooting in Berlin and Moscow show great images of two cities that we have never seen much actual footage of. The filmmakers get big points for going to the trouble to keep it real and actually shoot in these two amazing cities.
On a side note, the first place I saw Franka Potente was in a German film called "Run Lola Run". Go out and rent this movie! It is an hour and a half thrill ride set to some absolutely amazing techno music. Definitely on my top ten list.

This week crews began moving railroad tracks that run along one side of the Speedway. New tracks will then be laid about 200- feet away from the Speedway to make room for some 30- thousand new seats. The two- million dollar project is expected to be completed in time for the Bailey's 300 in October. Meanwhile, track renovations are expected to be completed next month. (------------)
