A new terror warning for several Western states including California and New Mexico.
A federal law enforcement sources says the FBI passed along the threat information, but warned it was considered unsubstantiated.
Authorities though thought it should be passed along.
Federal officials had warned earlier this month about intelligence indicating Al Qaida wanted to attack the U-S to disrupt the upcoming elections.

Warm smiles from family also greeted Lieutenant Colonel William Howard who spent fifteen months in Iraq. The 1983 Cave Spring Graduate was met by his wife in Germany for the final leg of the trip. While in Iraq he was a UH-60 helicopter pilot. In April he was on his way home, but only made it to Kuwait before he was sent back.

A young shooting suspect eluded police but couldn't escape them forever. 18 year old Charles Lee Thompson was arrested after a short standoff early this morning.

Police say Thompson refused to come out of a Ferncliff Avenue apartment, and was holding a 19 year old woman and her child hostage. He was taken into custody around four o'clock.

He now faces abduction, malicious wounding, and firearms charges. Court records indicate that police had been looking for Thompson since Tuesday after 37- year old Millard Mahala identified him as one of the young men who shot him. Police say charges are pending against another suspect.

Investigators searched for Thompson at his home on Willow Road for more than two hours yesterday. A SWAT team entered the house but could not find him. Police say Thompson had constructed a hiding nest in the attic complete with false doors and winding passages, and he may have been in the house all along.

Heavy overnight rains in north Texas caused some major flooding.

Not even the cows could escape the high waters in and around Dallas. Some north Texas residents saw as much as 13 inches of rain in less than 12 hours. City officials just south of Dallas report as many as 200 homes have been damaged. There were nearly 20 high-water rescues, some by boat. As the rain cleared up, residents were able to return home to asess the damage. Two deaths have been attributed to the flooding.

Sales of the University's merchandise are at an all time high. Licensing royalties have surpassed a million dollars for the 2003-2004 fiscal year. Tech collects about 8-percent on anything that bears the school's name or logo. The money helps hold down tuition costs and other fees for students. Earlier this month, the school officially joined the A-C-C. Sales from those NEW products are expected to boost royalties even higher next year. (------------)
