The hostages included an American, Briton, and Irishman who were members of a Christian group in the country teaching English.
The Palestinian gunmen had demanded anti-corruption reforms in President Yasser Arafat's Palestinian Authority.
They released the hostages, however, after Palestinian police surrounded the place where they were holding the men captive.

Tensions remain high in other parts of the West Bank. In the town of Jenin, Palestinian militants set fire to a government building. The militants are said to be part of Arafat's Fatah movement. Laser eye surgery allows people to give up their glasses.
However, the procedure is not without risks.
There are possible side effects - including glare shortly after surgery, and even vision deterioration over time.

But now there is a new kind of laser surgery that experts say is a safer way to clear vision. Doctor Sean Kenniff reports.

(STANDUP: Dr. Sean Kenniff/CBS NEWS/Miami, FL)

"The allegretto system has several advantages over tradition laser systems, first it's much faster. Three times faster in fact. Plus, since it uses ultraviolet light, there's less heating, and less damage to the cornea."
DR. CORY LESSNER, AN EYE SURGEON AT MILLENIUM LASER EYE CENTER, HAS BEEN PERFORMING CORRECTIVE SURGERY FOR TWELVE YEARS.

"I don't remember a time when I have ever had as many people tell me, even the first morning after their procedure that they're seeing as well, or better than they have ever seen with glasses or contacts before."

(SOT-Ed again)

"Better than I can remember in quite sometime and I just had my one week post-op check up, and it was corrected to 20/15."
THAT'S BETTER THAN PERFECT. A RESULT, DR. LESSNER SAYS, THAT ISN'T UNUSUAL WITH ALLEGRETTO.

(("The Village" (Touchstone Pictures) Review by: Joel Sink
M. Night Shyamalan is brilliant. I have liked all of his previous movies, "The Sixth Sense", "Unbreakable" and "Signs". I don't think anything will come close to the revelation (twist) in "The Sixth Sense", but there are some great ones here.
There is a group of people living in a picturesque village in rural Pennsylvania in 1897. There are several village elders, William Hurt and Sigourney Weaver and there are their children Joaquin Phoenix, Bryce Dallas Howard (Ron Howard's daughter). There is mentally challenged Noah, Adrien Brody and many other villagers. Outside the borders of the village there are creatures, which without a truce, would terrorize the villagers. After Lucius (Joaquin Phoenix) is mortally injured, someone must leave the village and brave the dangerous woods to bring back medicine to save his life.
There are at least three surprises (I like to call them twists) here. There are also some genuinely scary moments. Think of "The Village" as a scary movie for thinking people. There were kids sitting all around me in the theatre that didn't get the movie. If you're expecting "Friday the 13th" or "Scream" you probably won't like this movie. If you liked any of M. Night Shyamalan's other films, you will like this one. Bryce Dallas Howard absolutely steals the show. She is charismatic and captivating. Joaquin Phoenix and William Hurt are also excellent. Possibly the most intriguing person in the cast is Adrien Brody deftly playing a mentally challenged young man. This guy is an amazing actor.
The thing that makes this film work so well is that it makes you ask what is reality and what is not. In many ways it is a film about all of us and the worlds we create to make ourselves feel safe. Intrigued? You should be.
