Marcus Vick is scheduled to appear in court today in Newport News on traffic and drug charges. But he already knows he will NOT be allowed to return to Virginia Tech next semester.
Vick and Tech have parted ways at least for the Fall semester.
Today the school announced Vick has been suspended, effective immediately.

Authorities have released the name of the man whose body was found below the Blue Ridge Parkway last night.

A preliminary investigation indicates that 62 year old Ronald Wayne Carter jumped to his death from the Roanoke River Bridge. Hikers discovered the body around 7-o-clock last night. Police and rescue squads were called to the overlook, but Carter was pronounced dead at the scene.

A string of burglaries in Roanoke County and City ended after a homeowner foiled a robbery attempt. Three suspects apparently trying to force their way into a home in the 3700 block of Chesterson Street were caught by the homeowner July 26th. The homeowner got their descriptions and spotted their vehicle. Police followed it and found stolen goods and pawn tickets. 33 year old Kimberly Cox of Roanoke -- 29 year old Timothy R. Hicks of Salem -- and 23 year old Brandon S. Jordan are all charged with several counts of burglary.
Police say more charges are pending.

They completed a four- and- a- half hour spacewalk on the international space station, despite briefly losing contact today with NASA officials.
They were doing some maintenance work outside the station.
NASA has also launched the Messenger spacecraft, now en route to Mercury.
The journey will take about seven years and cover five- billion miles.
If all goes according to plan, Messenger will become the first spacecraft to orbit Mercury in 2011.
