A new plan announced by Roanoke City Police this week is changing the way School Resource Officers do business. Now some parents are voicing their concerns.
(------------)
[VO-NAT]
[SUPER=03-Roanoke/Monday;]

Monday police announced plans to divide the city into four zones and practice geographic policing. School resource officers, once considered specialized units, will now fall under the command of the lieutenant in charge of their school's zone.
[SUPER=04-Today;]

Former mayoral candidate and parent, Alice Hincker, is afraid the new designation will weaken the program.

Hincker says she's also concerned with the lack of public comment on the change.
