Sheriff's Deputies say an armed and dangerous man is on the loose in Franklin County tonight after allegedly shooting his niece in the leg.
Authorities believe he's now on foot in the Hardy section of the county.

this house in the 5300 block of Pleasant Hill Road.
39- year- old Hasan Ali Muhammed and his niece Virginia Langhorne got into an argument and started shooting at one another.
Langhorne was hit in the leg and taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Her condition is NOT being released.
Muhammed, also known as Paul Burwell, left the scene in a black pickup pulling a white cargo trailer.
Around 6:30 a deputy spotted the truck on Boones Mill Road.
Muhammed then led the officer down a number of back roads and ended up on Eton (EE-tahn) Road in Hardy.

A tactical team was called in, along with State Police and the Med Flight Helicopter out of Lynchburg.
Authorities have recovered the truck Muhammed was driving.
At this hour a perimeter has been set up around Hardy, Eton and Truman Roads.
Dogs are tracking the suspect and a heat sensing helicopter has been called in to aid in the search.
Residents who live along Hardy Road are being notified of the situation, but deputies say there's no need to panic.

Martinsville Police are looking for clues in a Friday night shooting that killed one person.

Police say the body of 21-year-old Sidney Deon Thomas was found on Marshall Street by a passerby around 6:30 yesterday morning.

Police spent the day interviewing neighbors trying to reconstruct the scene.
Thomas was found under a tree near Pine Hall Road.
That's where police responded more than two hours earlier after hearing shots fired in the area.

The driver, Aaron Jerome Cooper of Reidsville, North Carolina was charged with DUI, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

One teenager was killed in a shooting in Danville last night.
Police were called to the Knights of Columbus building on Shavers Street in Danville for crowd control around 11:30.
When they arrived, officials say they heard shots inside.
That's where they found 15 year old Reginald Lemar Kirby lying on the floor with a gunshot wound to his chest.
Kirby died at the scene.
A 20-year old woman - who has not been identified - was also shot in the buttock.
She was taken to Danville Regional for treatment.

It's part of the company's 25-million dollar expansion.
The 150-thousand square-foot facility is an addition to the existing building in the Vista Corporate Park. Originally founding in the 1950's, Me-talsa first came to Roanoke in 1996.
The company manufactures heavy rail frames for trucks.
Virginia successfully competed with Pennsylvania and Mexico for the project.

Somehow this guy knew that the weather would be near perfect at the park tonight.
Starting pitcher Fernando Nieve had the good stuff on the hill tonight, striking out four, and allowing just a single hit. Nieve went the distance for a complete game shutout--his 9th win of the season.
The Avs pushed across the game's only run in the 7th when Pat Peavey hit a hot shot to the hole at short. The throw to first got away,

Not since Maurice DeShazo was the quarterback, have Bassett football fans had much to cheer about. First year Head Coach Jay Gilbert hopes to change that this season after coming over from Fieldale-Collinsville as part of Henry County's consolidation plan.

Several of the PGA Tour's top players took the week off to get ready for the PGA Championship, but Rod Pampling decided to show up at the International, and it paid dividends as Pampling grabbed his first victory on the Tour. That 31 foot eagle at the 17th all but decided the outcome as Pampling held off Tom Pernice, Jr. and Alex Cejka, finishing with 31 points under the Stableford scoring system.
