Ten weeks into Scott's Peterson's double murder trial....his former
mistress Amber Frey... finally gets a chance to tell her side of this
complicated story.
sot: Gloria Allred/Frey's attorney
"Everyone today is going to be analyzing her every word, every action,
how she is dressed, whether or not she looks at Scott Peterson. It's a
difficult situation to be in."
From day one of this trial, prosecutors have claimed Scott Peterson
killed his wife Laci and their unborn child (in part) to be with Frey.
To help prove that contention, they have over 200 taped phone calls that
Amber Frey secretly recorded after Laci Peterson was reported missing.
Sot: Terrance Hallinan/Former District Attorney
"What could sink Peterson if there's something on the tapes that amounts
to an admission on his part."
It's already known that the tapes recorded Scott repeatedly lying to
Amber and promising her the two of them will have a future together.
(natz)
The defense team, led by attorney Mark Geragos, is expected to take aim
at Frey's character...and hopefully deflect attention away from the
tapes.
sot: Allred again
"The most difficult witness for him is not going to be Amber Frye, its
going to be Scott Peterson's own words on the tapes."
(standup close)
Frey's attorney expects her to be on the stand for a considerable amount
of time...testimony that many expect will be the turning point of this
trial.
