((The 84-year-old Pope can no longer walk, and barely talk, but he continues to travel, despite the ravages of Parkinson's disease and crippling arthritis. He came to Lourdes this weekend to join 300,000 Catholic faithful in prayers for peace and healing. Someone else read his greeting to the pilgrims, with whom he said he "shares a time of life marked by physical suffering." And he is clearly suffering. It took him a huge effort to kneel and pray in the grotto of Lourdes. When he was helped back into to his seat, there were tears in his eyes. Those who meet the pope in private say his mind is still lucid. It's his body that no longer supports his will to carry on. His own experience is something he can share with the pilgrims who come to drink the waters of the spring in search of cures.

Although the church has officially recognized 66 cases as true "miracles", there have been few in recent years, and none at all since 1987. But the faithful still come - some 6 million a year - and tonight the Pope urged them to turn their prayers toward a larger goal - peace in the world and an end to hatred and violence. In today's world that was asking for a far bigger miracle. Tom Fenton, CBS News, Lourdes, France.))
