The blast killed the Augusta County woman who was driving the S-U-V and injured her ex-husband.
Tonight authorities say they are still trying to determine if the explosion was an intentional act.

Authorities say Shanda Hanger drove to the campground Sunday night, and called her ex-husband over to the car, before it exploded in flames.

The force of the explosion knocked out windows the heat of the fire melted metal and plastic, and reduced much of the interior to ashes.
Retired State Police Arson investigator Lynn Thomas says it's too early to reach any conclusions, but says he's confident authorities will find the point of origin and the likely cause of the fire.

Radford police are investigating a suspicious death.
Investigators say two people drove up to the New River Valley Medical Center and dropped off a woman.
21 year old Angel M. Haley from Pulaski County was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say Haley's cause of death, and the circumstances surrounding it, are under investigation.

State Police say 46-year-old Tammy Briggs Spangler of Rocky Mount was traveling southbound, when her vehicle struck a pickup truck and got caught underneath.

It's been three months since an Air Force fighter jet crashed near a home in Franklin County.
The jet was on a low-altitude mission when a bird got caught in the engine and forced the plane down.
The owners of the home say just cleaning up the damage has been a mission in itself.

The military hired local contractors to dig up the contaminated soil, have it tested and cleaned.
The process could take another two weeks, and even then Air Force officials say they will make periodic visits to the home to make sure everything's okay.

Roanoke County police have charged three people with last month's BB-gun vandalism spree.

Police say the three are accused of damaging dozens of cars over a two-week period in July.
18 year old Daniel Cronk, 18 year old Derek Shanebrook, and a 17 year old male face multiple charges.

County officials say there is no evidence at this time tying the three to BB-gun damage at Northside Middle School, which was vandalized in the same time period, but as the investigation continues, more charges are possible.

A state police drug search turned up something very different in Smyth County this month.
Police were using a helicopter to look for pot, but they also found an operational moonshine still with a ready stock of the illegal corn liquor.
Police confiscated 20 containers of moonshine along with more than 140 marijuana plants.
Investigators say arrests are likely after a Smyth County Grand Jury meets in September.
