Hanger motioned for her estranged husband, Timothy Hanger, to come near her car.
Authorities said something exploded, killing her and injuring him.

County officials say there is no evidence at this time tying the three to BB-gun damage at Northside Middle School, which was vandalized in the same time period, but as the investigation continues, more charges are possible.

Pittsylvania County authorities are invetigating the fatal shooting of a 24 year old man. Officers say the shooting happened Saturday night on Old Richmond Road.
Deputies found Joel Winslow lying in the yard, suffering from what is believed to be a*shotgun* wound. He was taken to the Danville Regional Medical Center, where he died a few hours later. Authorities say four suspects were seen leaving the area in a white Toyota Corolla.

Smyth County officials made an unusual find this month. A Virginia State Police helicopter spotted a moonshine still.... the first in years. The still was fully operational and had a ready stock of illegal corn liquor. About 20 containers of moonshine were taken into evidence. The chopper fly- over also netted more than 140 marijuana plants. Investigators say they plan on making arrests after Smyth County's September Grand Jury meets.
