A Covington Marine who died while serving in Iraq was laid to rest today.

Staff Seargent Ryan Howard died two weeks ago, when his helicopter went down near Baghdad. Military offiicals say the helicopter had engine problems. Nearly 300-people attended funeral services today at the Arritt Funeral Home in Covington. Howard was buried at the Palenstine Cemetary next to the Presybeterian church, where he grew up. The 25-year-old leaves behind a wife and two children.

In a second incident, attackers got the timing wrong - and exploded a roadside bomb alongside the Education ministers convoy - before it had picked him up.
These attacks are not believed to be the work of Al Sadrs followers ....but his militia did throw up road blocks across Sadr City, the slum district that is his powerbase in the capital.

An rollover accident near Smith Mountain Lake today took the life of the 60 year old driver. State police say he was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.

The blaze broke out on King Street in Elizabethtown- just east of the downtown corridor.
Fire damaged a tire company and a construction company, as well as a tanning salon and beauty salon. A Christian library and a hispanic center were also damaged.
