The wreck happened just after two o'clock today on Bradshaw Road. Police say this gold Toyota Corolla was traveling at a high-rate of speed when the driver lost control of his car and hit a tree. Lifeguard 10 was called to the scene, but the victim was transported by ambulance instead. His condition and name have not been released.

A small fire broke out at a Roanoke County Post Office this morning.

An employee at the Catawba office noticed smoke in the building and called the fire department. Firefighters traced the smoke to a ceiling fan in the bathroom and quickly extinguished the fire.
Authorities say two workers were inside at the time but were not hurt.
