A 22-year-old man was taken to the hospital after a single-car accident in Roanoke County.

The wreck happened just after two o'clock today on Bradshaw Road. Police say this gold Toyota Corolla was traveling at a high-rate of speed when the driver lost control of his car and hit a tree. Lifeguard 10 was called to the scene, but the victim was transported by ambulance instead. His condition and name have not been released.

A small fire broke out at a Roanoke County Post Office this morning.

An employee at the Catawba office noticed smoke in the building and called the fire department. Firefighters traced the smoke to a ceiling fan in the bathroom and quickly extinguished the fire.
Authorities say two workers were inside at the time but were not hurt.
No mail was damaged and the Post Office is now back in business.

Virginia law requires all incoming freshman at public colleges and universities to be vaccinated.

The Salem school recently converted the old Minnick Education Center on the Elizabeth Campus into student apartments.

Most of the units will house between two and four students. Each has a bathroom, full kitchen and common area. The college is also building a new three-dorm complex to be completed by Fall of next year. The school says the floorplan is different than most dorms and that each of the 156 *single* room will be loaded with amenities.
