Tropical Storm Gaston (gass-TAHN') caused widespread flooding that closed Interstate 95 and more than 100 roads in the region just before the evening rush hour.
A 20-block section of downtown Richmond, including the historic Shockoe Bottom area, is condemned because of damage.
Governor Mark Warner walked through the area known for its bars and restaurants this morning and said it's too early for a firm damage estimate.

Storm damage in the capitol region is also affecting some cellphone service in the Roanoke Valley.
SunCom representatives tell us the storm has knocked out a portion of its celluar service to both the Richmond and Roanoke areas. SunCom officials say the company hopes to restore some of the lost service by this evening.

The Craig County School board will soon go from the classroom to the courtroom.
More than 125-Craig County residents have filed a petition against the board stating they want an audit of school funds.

The group wouldn't talk on camera, but states in court documents it wanted the audit to determine whether there had been any inappropriate spending or wrong doing.
Members of the group also want any recommendations for improving accounting practices- something some residents agree is necessary.

An eleven year boy has died after an accident at a motorcross track in Henry County.
It happened around five o'clock Sunday night.
The sheriff's department says students were attending a school for the weekend at the Lake Sugar Tree motorcross track.
During the final drill, 11 year old Jacob Nicholson of South Carolina ended up going in the wrong direction on the track.
A head on collision resulted and the victim died from his injuries.

Roanoke County police say NO charges will be filed against a day care center that left a child stranded at a swimming pool.
Five-year-old Hunter Kemper was on a field trip with the HoneyTree Early Learning Center, when the group accidentally left him behind for a half hour.
The boy was okay, and the center says it has revised its policies to prevent future mishaps.
The Department of Social Services is still investigating.

Manufacturing support, information technology and international sales jobs will remain in Christiansburg.

The Christiansburg plant employs 330 people.
