A Virginia congressman is giving up his seat in the House of Representatives over allegations he is gay.
Republican Ed Schrock says he won't seek a third term.
He cited unspecified allegations that, in his words, quote--"have called into question my ability to represent the citizens.''
In a release issued by his office, Schrock said he has come to the realization that these allegations will not allow his campaign to focus on the issues facing the nation.
His decision came almost two weeks after a Web site alleged that Schrock is gay.
The married congressman is a conservative who voted for legislation to ban gay marriages.
Schrock represents the Second Congressional District, which includes Virginia Beach and Norfolk.
