The eye of the slow-moving storm is expected to make landfall sometime tonight. The huge storm is approaching at only about five miles-an-hour, so the strongest sustained winds of 105 miles-an-hour are still hours away. But winds and heavy bands of rain are already battering the eastern coast of Florida.

A Roanoke neighborhood is mourning the loss of a four- year- old boy who accidentally shot himself yesterday evening.
Neighbors say Asadi Wiley was sitting in the front seat of his father's Cadillac when he found a gun that went off and killed him. Jennifer Wishon talked to his family today and has more.

Wali Lundy scored the first TD of the season, scooting in from a couple of yards out to make it 10-nothing UVA.
Marques Hagans went up top later for Mike McGrew who hauled it in inside the Temple 5. That setup another Lundy touchdown--the second of his three on the day.
Later, the special teams get it done, while Temple's tackling does not. Alvin Pearman fielded the punt, and then made 8 tacklers miss in rambling 70 yards to the house to make it 24 to nothing Cavaliers.

Wake routed the Tigers last season and threatened to do the same in this one.
Chris Barclay starts the 4th quarter with this--he somehow stays on his feet at the line of scrimmage and busts up the gut 50 yards. Barclay won the foot race to the goal line and Wake led 27-19.
Clemson rallied thanks to a crucial pass interference call. Yusef Kelly cashed in with the up and over, but Clemson still needed a 2 point conversion.
Charlie Whitehurst got it with the completion to Kelvin Grant to force overtime tied at 27.

In the second extra frame, Whitehurst found Kyle Browning over the middle for an 11 yard TD. The Tigers won a wild and wooly ACC opener 37 to 30.

At LSU, the Tigers were on the ropes much of the night against Oregon State but Marcus Randall gave the Bayou Bengals the lead in overtime with a short touchdown run.
The Beavers answered that with a 19 yard TD pass on 4th down from Derek Anderson to Joe Newton. But Alexis Serna missed the point after--his 3rd missed PAT on the night as LSU held on 22 to 21.

Greg Biffle dueled late in the race with fellow Cup regular Casey Mears, but held on for his 5th win of the season in the Target House 300. He led 72 of the 150 laps on the way to a season sweep at Fontana. Mears, the polesitter recorded his best ever Busch Series finish after leading 46 laps.
