(((( Frances is like one of those irritating house guests....who doesn't know when to leave. Remnants of the onetime giant Hurricane that blasted into Florida continue to rain down from the Southeast to the Great Lakes. Parts of the the North Carolina mountains are swamped.
"WE SEEN PEOPLE WADING DOWN THERE AT THE COFFEE SHOP, IT IS UP TO THEIR CHEST." More than 11 inches of rain fell overnight near Ashville. "IT CERTAINLY IS A SURPRISE TO WAKE UP IN THE MORNING AND SEE MOST OF DOWNTOWN COVERED IN WATER." The waters of the Swannanoa River had nowhere to go but up and out as they swallowed cars and roads. Here, Noah would have been proud....though admittedly...one dog did miss the boat. Up the coast in New Jersey trees are down and dining out is OUT at this restaurant. Heavy rain drenched New York City and clogged the subways. "IT'S MESSED UP, THERE'S A LOT OF WATER DAMAGE ON THE TRAINS." Many trains were suspended. Getting to work was a pain.
"I LEFT MY HOUSE AT EIGHT O'CLOCK THIS MORNING, AS YOU CAN SEE IT IS NOW 10 O'CLOCK." "WE WERE STUCK ON THE TRACKS DO TO WATER AND I HAVE BEEN STANDING WAITING FOR THE E-TRAIN FOR A HALF AN HOUR." On Long Island driving was a challenge.
"YOU NEED A ROWBOAT" And at the US Open In Queens, the tennis was no match for the foul weather--right now Frances is the reigning champion here.
