Suspended Virginia Tech Quarterback Marcus Vick is set to enter a plea in Circuit Court Monday, rather than pursue an appeal of a lower court conviction.
(------------)
[VO-NAT]
[SUPER=03-Blacksburg/May]

The judge ordered him to serve 30 days in jail and pay a fine, but Vick appealed the sentence. He could have simply dropped the appeal, paid the fine and done his time. He is likely to follow the terms of a plea agreement where all of the jail term is suspended along with all-but 100-dollars of the fine. Vick and two teammates had been convicted of contributing to the delinquency of minors. The charges resulted from a party at Vick's apartment in January involving 14 and 15-year old girls.

Abortion rights supporters are now three- for-three, in their court challenges to a ban on a controversial abortion procedure.
A judge in Nebraska today declared the Partial- Birth Abortion Ban Act unconstitutional, because it doesn't include exceptions to protect a woman's health.
President Bush signed the ban last year.
All three rulings are expected to be appealed to the Supreme Court.

NASA has failed at what it called a delicate game of catch. The three- year Genesis mission wrapped up today,
(------------)

with a helicopter attempting to literally catch a returning satellite as it falls to Earth over the state of Utah.
Unfortunately it failed.
The space capsule crashed just moments ago in the Utah desert.
The mission was launched in August, 2001, with the aim of collecting solar particles.
Scientists hope the crash did not damage its fragile cargo-- which is equivalent to a few grains of salt.
