Two men from the African nation of Mauritania were caught at a Kroger store Thursday with a large amount of baby formula. Upon leaving the store they asked an off-duty police officer for directions to the next nearest Kroger store. *That* raised suspicions, so the officer called the department's homeland security officer. Federal agents arrived within minutes. They arrested S. O. Mohamed-Mahmoud, an undocumented immigrant from Mauritania. The other Kroger shopper had proper papers and was allowed to leave. [SUPER=04-New Line Cinema;]

(("Cellular" (New Line Cinema) Review by: Joel Sink I went to see "Cellular" with pretty low expectations. Boy, did I get a surprise! Cellular starts off with Jessica (Kim Basinger) seeing her son Ricky (Adam Taylor Gordon) off to school. This is the calm before the storm. Within seconds three people crash through a glass door, kill the housekeeper and whisk Jessica off to a creepy house in parts unknown. Jessica is locked away in the attic by Greer (Jason Statham), but not before he smashes the phone with a sledge hammer. Jessica twists some of the wires together and reaches beach bum Ryan's (Chris Evans) cellphone. He thinks Jessica is playing a joke on him until Greer storms back into the room and begins to scream at Jessica "where did he hide it?". Jessica has no idea what he is talking about but Ryan now believes her and is willing to help. Ryan goes to the police with his phone where he meets Detective Mooney (William H. Macy). In one of several stupid plot twists, a fight breaks out in the police station and he never really gets anywhere. There are some pretty lame set-ups, but there is so much action and tension that I'll forgive the filmmakers. Kim Basinger is good, Chris Evans is excellent and William H. Macy (one of my favorite actors) brings credibility to the whole thing. Jason Statham (The Italian Job) is so good at being a bad guy the audience cheered when he got a taste of his own medicine. (Oops, I didn't give too much away did I?) The weaknesses in "Cellular" are the usual ones. Can you say "SCRIPT"? There aren't many stupid phrases, but there are some scenes that were written in just to get you from one point to another. This movie could have been perfect if the writers had done a better job writing. I have to admit that "Cellular" kept me on the edge of my seat anyway. Even with the lame plot turns, the actors and the excitement make this a thrill ride. Expect to use your "suspension of disbelief", but you'll still have a blast! Wait, I think I hear my cellphone ringing. Joel's take: 7 out of 10 Rated: PG-13))
