Next door, members of the Army National Guard loaded trucks and prepared equipment in case they're activated for disaster relief.
Emergency management officials have reviewed their preparedness plans while crews moved equipment to higher ground.
They're encouraging residents to do the same, by moving important items from flood prone basements, and gathering emergency supplies.

Roanoke County's chief prosecutor has agreed to examine how a road-building project in the Clearbrook area was procured.

[VO-NAT]
[SUPER=03-Roanoke Co./June 10]

Alleghany Construction built the four-way intersection on 220 at Indian Grave Road. A traffic light that went with it was dedicated in June. Now the county attorney has asked the Commonwealth's Attorney to review the process to determine whether there was any impropriety in how the contractor was hired. Supervisors Chairman Richard Flora asked for the investigation.

The Board of Supervisors voted on the project three separate times in April of last year. While some have inferred there was impropriety from Supervisor Mike Wray's personal involvement in the project, the county attorney points out Wray assumed his seat on the Board only THIS year.
