Virginians who suffered damage from tornadoes spawned by Hurricane Ivan may consider their situation to be disastrous -- but the government might disagree.
The Washington Post reports the damage from those tornadoes is spread so widely, that officials won't know for a few days whether the state can qualify for federal assistance.
17- tornadoes were confirmed-- but there could have been dozens more.
Meanwhile, the after effects from Ivan are now being felt in the Northeast.
