It would take nearly three hours but things are finally back to normal in Campbell County tonight.
That wasn't the case this afternoon when a propane leak near the Lynchburg Airport created major problems. [***NEWS 7 @ 11 IN MONITOR***]

That sent propane vapors throughout the area causing delays for planes, trains, and automobiles.

That tank is located here at Surburban Propane off Route 29 next to the Lynchburg Airport.
The leak occurred in a 30-thousand gallon propane tank.

That prompted the closure of Route 29 and many businesses in the area.
The Lynchburg Airport even had to shut down for about 15 minutes.

The all clear finally came just after five o'clock after crews contained the leak.
By 5:30, Route 29 re-opened. Despite the major interuptions, fire crews say they had no choice.

More testimony today in the federal fraud trial of former D-Day director Richard Burrow in Charlottesville.

Today, Buck Bradley ... a former member of the D-Day Foundation's board of directors ... told the jury he was shocked to learn contractors were not being paid in the months before the memorial's dedication in June of 2001.
Bradley says Burrow never told anyone about the financial troubles the foundation was having.
Prosecutors say Burrow was playing a financial shell game, using uncertain pledges as collateral for bank loans to keep the project afloat.
The trial continues through next week.

A teacher for the Head Start Program at Blacksburg Presbyterian church reached into a bush to pick up something a child had dropped when she disturbed a nest of yellow jackets. A meteorologist with the Blacksburg office enlisted help from a State Police airplane and spent six hours touring the damage yesterday. Hendricus (hen-DREE-kiss) Lulofs (LOO-loffs) took at least one hundred pictures. He says the damage is consistent with F-1 and F-2 twisters.
