Actor Christopher Reeve has died at the age of 52.
Today one of his doctors said- "he showed people with spinal injuries that there is hope and that there are things to be done."

(natz from Superman)
Millions first knew Christopher Reeve as the Man of Steel...an
invincible super-hero...who dedicated his life to making the world a
better place.
(more natz superman)
And that's also how the movie star lived his real life, even in a
wheelchair. In 19-95, Reeve was paralyzed when he was thrown from a
horse....but that setback didn't cripple his super-spirit. The actor
turned activist spent his remaining years as a staunch advocate for
spinal cord research.
sot: Reeve from Public Service Announcement
"Now many of the best and brightest scientist are working on spinal cord
research and I think its because they know we are on the verge of
incredible breakthroughs."
Reeve spent long hours working to make his arms and legs stronger. In
2000, Reeve inspired millions with the simple wiggle of his finger, he
also regained sensation in other parts of his body....small steps he
hoped in his never-ending quest to one day walk again.
(natz Kerry from debate...."I want him walk again")
John Kerry mentioned Reeve during a recent debate. Thanks in part to
Reeve's determined efforts, stem cell research has become a major issue
in the Presidential campaign and one that will likely remain in public
eye no matter who is elected.
(natz superman)
Before his accident, Reeve was a virtual unknown until the Superman role
came along. The character made him famous, but it overshadowed his
other roles. Reeve feared he would never "escape the cape".
Sadly, his escape came when he was injured. But Reeve became a
different kind of super hero....a man determined to find a cure for
spinal cord injuries....and it's a legacy that many will remember for
years to come.

In the first few hours of a five-day disarmament plan authorities had received just a handful of weapons.
Meanwhile, an Arab T-V station has broadcast a video showing three-hooded gunmen threatening to behead a Turkish hostage being held in Iraq.
The kidnappers are demanding the Americans release all Iraqi prisoners and all Turks leave Iraq within three days.
