Good evening everybody and welcome to Friday Football Extra on a what has turned out to be wild, jam packed night. Besides the battle of unbeatens and undefeated upsets - this cold night is also giving us cameos from John Elway and Kool and the Gang.
[GRAPHIC=PH/FRANKLIN]

But we begin tonight at Victory Stadium where the Patrick Henry Patriots mixed it up in their Western Valley district opener with Franklin County.

It was homecoming tonight at Patrick Henry - as Cory Muse was crowned king and Kostayne Link the queen. And when you show up for the festivities at the stadium you better be ready for a flood of fabric. We pick it up at the very end of the second quarter. Franklin County's D.J. Willis will drop back and find a wide open Ronny Edwards for the touchdown. The 20 yard strike makes it 25-to-nothing at halftime. PH would go in at the half to get warmed up, and warm up they did. Antwan Green picks the ball up on his own 11, and watch him bust right up into the pack and then to the right side. He's going all the way for the score to make it 25-to-6.
Five plays later Franklin County gets back on the board as Willis rolls to his right and finds Hunter Naff, who completes the hit and spin and rolls in from the 36. It's now 32-to-6 Eagles. Franklin County was threatening again in the third
[SUPER=50-Franklin Co./38/Patrick Henry/6;]

when Willis's pass is tipped and picked off by Seth Chapman, but Franklin County rolls to the 38 to 6 win.

About the only age not affected by the cold tonight was this demographic on hand for GW! In the third, GW's Cameron Martin tries to hit John Gregory, but instead his pass is picked off by Vincent Henderson, who takes it back 25 yards for the Toppers. In the fourth, Martin would redeem himself as he handsoff to Haylen Murphy - who heads to the outside and scores from 11 yards out to make it 17-to-6 GW on top. Glass's Ian Holmes would try to lead a comeback as he finds Matt Taylor, but he is rocked just as the ball arrives. It bounces into the hands of Marlon Walton who runs it back 20 yards to set up another score. Martin would then handoff to Anthony Jacobs for

The temperatures were also a little frigid with a nasty win tonight in Christiansburg - tough on people and flags. We pick it up in the fourth with Salem holding onto a seemingly comfortably 35-to-21 lead - but as we've seen all season with Christiansburg no deficit is too big to overcome. Andrew Hoffer sneaks in from the one to make it 35-to-28. Then when two and a half minutes left in the game, Hoffer will hand off to Terrell Burks who drive in for the score to make it 35-to-34. The Blue Demons set up for the kick to get it to overtime, but Zach Boyd rares up and passes to Nick Gill on the fake to make it 36-to-35 Blue Demons. Salem would regroup in a hurry and get to the Blue Demons 33 with 40 seconds to go, Matt Shawver's pass to Tony Spradlin is picked off by Jordan Collins. It was homecoming at Kenneth Dobson stadium as the marching band stepped to the sounds of Canterbury Tales. The Cougars' defense also would make a little noise as the Titans' Tyler Coyer is sacked by Chad Thompson for a ten yard loss ending a Titan threat. In the second quarter, the Titans would come back looking to throw again. This time Coyer's pass is knocked down by Kevin Crouse. Later in the drive, the Titans would be forced to punt. Crouse would reel in the kick. He doesn't get far before he's popped. The ball comes out and Josiah Goins picks it out of midair, but also pays the price. But Goins would hold on to the ball. And that was big because the Titans fool everyone on a fourth and inches as Coyer rares up and hits Jud Carte. The senior captian will not be denied as he takes it 25
