A weekend accident took the life of a 19 year old woman in Roanoke County. Police say alcohol was a factor.

Investigators say Brooke Perkins of Bonsack was sitting on the passenger's side door of a Ford Explorer while the SUV was traveling down Summerfield Drive.
Perkins fell from the moving vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle, 21 year old Christopher Chovanec was charged with driving under the influence.
Roanoke County police say speed was not a factor in the accident.

Governor Mark Warner is scheduled to announce today final high school graduation rates in Virginia for the 2003-2004 school year.
It was the first school year that the Standards of Learning test requirements affected whether seniors could graduate.
Meanwhile, state leaders say education will remain a top priority in Virginia, no matter who is voted president.
