An accident last night near Dixie Caverns slowed southound traffic for hours.
State police say a tractor trailer ran off the right side of the road, overturned and caught fire.
The driver from North Carolina was able to get out on his own.
He was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.
The truck was carrying a form of acid used to make tape.
Though it was not marked as hazardous, officials say they're not yet sure if that's the case.
The trucker told state police his steering failed before he crashed.
A team will inspect the vehicle in the morning. Charges are pending.

Norfolk Southern had a strong summer.
The railroad says its third-quarter profits more than doubled, helped by surging railway revenue and a one-time gain from the reorganization of its Conrail unit. Even when you exclude a gain of 53 (m) million dollars from reorganizing Conrail, Norfolk's earnings were 59 cents per share.
That easily topped estimates of 54 cents from analysts.
