A Republican lawmaker is questioning the process Governor Mark Warner uses to restore the voting rights of felons.

Since Warner took office in 2002, he has given the vote back to nearly 19 hundred state felons who have served their prison time and completed probation.
Chesterfield Delegate Brad Marrs asked the Secretary of the Commonwealth's office in a letter to confirm a news report that Warner had approved 65 reinstatements in the final week of September.
Marrs wrote that if that were true, then the review process is inadequate. Warner's deputy press secretary says felons' applications are closely reviewed.
