It's asking the community to pitch in to help the hungry.

Recent disasters along the East Coast are part of the problem.
When hurricanes hit places like Florida the national food bank doesn't send as much food to its affiliate banks such as the Roanoke one.

While local donations were actually up for the three month period from July through September of this year- the demand was also up considerably.
Local disasters such as recent flooding put a strain on the food supply.
That's left the food bank.. simply put... in need of food.

The food Bank is moving- to a much larger warehouse on Electric Road in Salem. Beginning next week food donations should be dropped off there. It's the old PYA- Monarch food warehouse- across the street from G-E.
