Starting in 2005, Celanese Acetate is going to phase out its filament line. The company has been a pioneer in the acetate filament industry since the 1920's. It's a product often found in clothing and household goods. The move will put 275 to 325 people out of work.

The news is better for a Botetourt company- While the 9-11 terrorist attacks slowed business for Altech- it's now growing again.

Altech Industries finished work on its plant at Greenfield just four days after the attacks.
It was supposed to invest 12 and a half million dollars in the county and employ 150 people by next month.
Though it has not yet reached that goal, County Administrator Gerry Burgess says Altech now expects to have 14-million dollars invested and more than 150 employees by next November.

At this point, the National Transportation Safety Board has not determined what caused the Hendrick Family plane to go down, but members of the racing community have reportedly said the airport is one of the most dangerous.

We may never know exactly what the pilots of the Hendrick plane saw Sunday.
But the crash into Bull Mountain has these pilots asking why the crew was more than seven-miles from the airport and if they were exercising the approved missed approach procedure which is available for every pilot.

Investigators aren't sure what sparked a fire that destroyed a historic tobacco warehouse in South Boston early this morning.

Firefighters spent more than five hours bringing the blaze at the Planter's Warehouse under control.
Crews from around the region were called in to fight the fire and keep surrounding businesses from being damaged.

The entire building and its contents ... including an estimated twenty tons of tobacco ... were destroyed.

The latest News Seven Mason-Dixon Poll puts the President's lead over Senator John Kerry at six points, the same margin as a month ago.
When voters were asked what one issue will be most influential in their voting next week, Homeland Security and Terrorism came out on top.
22 percent said Iraq and 20 percent responded the economy and job creation.
