American Airlines says the captain shut down the vibrating engine. Boeing designed these planes so they can be flown on one engine. The pilots had the plane on the ground in Roanoke within about ten minutes.
A private pilot aboard the flight to D-C was impressed with the way the commercial pilots handed the crisis, given the level of anxiety in the cabin.

A Craig County middle school teacher has been charged with a crime against a minor.
Gregory Todd Baker is charged with taking indecent liberties with a child.
School officials say the allegations arose from an incident at the school.
Baker was put on leave with pay when the incident was reported.
He is free on 5-thousand dollars bond.

Jean, Virginia is actually ahead of some states in that it's offered something similar called "conditional voting" since 1975.

There are three cases in which provisional ballots are cast in the Commonwealth.
