17-year-old Elizabeth Eddy of Rockbridge County and 18-year-old Mary Ashley Meadows of Lynchburg were killed after a series of accidents on route 220 early Saturday morning.
Police say the girls were passengers in a car which was cut off by a man driving a teal sports car.
The car flipped -- and the passengers were getting out of the vehicle -- when it was hit by an S-U-V... crushing and killing Eddy.
Police say the remaining three did not realize their friend had been hurt and were trying to make it to safety at the side of the road when Meadows was killed.

The wreckage was then collected by a ground crew and loaded onto trucks.
Debris will now be relocated to Delaware-- where NTSB officials will try and piece clues from the crash together.
Officials have not released any new information regarding the CAUSE of the crash.
