Voter turnout numbers in the Roanoke Valley continue to straggle in. But, election officials say so far, so good.
[DOUBLE BOXES=Shannon/Myranda /Microwave;]

Myranda Stephens is at the precinct at West Side Elementary school with an update. Shannon, as of 3 o'clock this afternoon, Roanoke City is reporting a turnout of 48 percent, Roanoke County at 55 percent, and the city of Salem at 54 percent.

All of these figures are higher than in 2000. Now, we knew that more people were registering this year, but the question was, just how many of those people would actually go to the polls on election day. Particularly young people, who have been encouraged more than ever to make their voices heard.

Geragos suggested that prosecutors have been trying to make jurors hate Peterson -- in hopes that they'd then convict him, even if the evidence didn't justify doing so. Deliberations could begin as early as tomorrow.
